Description

A course in scientific literacy covering four major periods

  • science in the ancient Mediterranean (chiefly Greek)
  • the scientific revolution (16-17c)
  • classical science (18-19c)
  • modern science (20-21c)

Instructional methodology blends both internalist (logic of scientific discovery) and externalist (science & technology in society) approaches. The course draws students from all six ODU colleges and meets the upper-division general education requirement on "the Impact of Technology."
