Abstract/Critique Assessment Rubric

 Organization Assignment is organized into the three required sections. This would include Part 1 – Abstract; Part 2- General (title, author information, source, correct identification as quantitative or qualitative); Statement & Significance of the problem, Theoretical background of the study and/or literature review, Hypothesis or Research Questions, procedures (Subjects & How Selected, Materials, Data Collection & Analysis), Results, Conclusions & Implications, and Overall Evaluation (possibility of replication, how it applies to you, was article worthy of publication?); Part 3 – Legible copy of the article being critiqued.  Assignment is organized but is in a format differing from the suggested one Assignment is not well organized, and important data is difficult to locate.  Assignment is disorganized. 
 Completeness All assignment components are present.  Neatness Assignment is formatted so that information is easily found. All sections have clearly labeled headings. Assignment is missing headings but pages are still neatly organized with no loose pages. Assignment is missing the headings and loose pages are present.  Assignment is unprofessional in appearance. 
Writing and Verbal Expression  Assignment is free of spelling, grammatical, and APA errors. Sentence structure is clear and concise, without slang. Assignment contains one spelling, grammatical, writing, slang, or APA error.    Two spelling, grammatical, writing, slang, or APA errors are present. Three or more spelling, grammatical, writing, slang, or APA errors are present.
