Security Tools

  • Microsoft Security Essentials (free). Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
  • Microsoft Safety Scanner. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.
  • The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Checks Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 computers for and helps remove infections by specific, prevalent malicious software—including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom.
  • Symantec Security Scan (free) Norton Security Scan is the free version of Symantec’s antivirus software. It is not a real-time software but an “on demand” application that looks for viruses, spyware and other security threats.
  • Norton Power Eraser. If you have become the victim of crimeware that regular virus scans can't detect, use Norton Power Eraser to target and eliminate it.
  • McAfee AVERT Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected system.
