Dr. John M. Ritz
Chapter V
Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations
* This chapter should stand alone; one should be able to pick this chapter up and read it and understand the study.
* There should be an introduction describing what will be found in this chapter.
Chapter V
Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations
* Summary (summarizes content of the first four chapters)
* Conclusions (answers research goals based upon data collected)
* Recommendations (makes recommendations based upon the results of the study and makes recommendations for future studies)
Summary
* Should summarize what has been stated in the first four chapters:
o Problem Statement
o Research Goals
o Significance of the Study
o Limitations of the Study
o Population
o Instrument
o Data Collection
o Statistical Procedures
* It should be about 2-3 pages in length.
Conclusions
* Need to repeat each research goal separately and then provide the answer to each research goal.
* Conclusions should use and be based upon the data you collected to answer the research goals. Use what you collected and reported in Chapter IV.
* The conclusions say "so what' of the research findings.
Recommendations
* Make practical suggestions for implementing your findings.
* Suggest additional research studies that should be undertaken in light of your findings.
Research Evaluative Criteria
* Problem Statement
* Research Goals
* Background and Significance
* Limitations and Assumptions
