Dear Diane

Did you see the movie Life is Beautiful? It tells a powerful story about giving, caring, making the most out
of every situation... and about making the ultimate sacrifice. No, I am not going to ask you to make the
ultimate sacrifice. I am, however, going to ask you to make a difference in the lives of high-achieving college
students.

Opened Doors created the Invest in the Future Fund to provide scholarships to members, to provide
membership for eligible students in need, to support chapter service programs and to support student
leadership development. More than $35,000 was contributed to the fund in just one year!

As a result of this support, the Society instituted the Opened Doors International Student Leadership
Award to be presented at the 2000 Opened Door International Convention in August. In addition, many
deserving students will have their membership sponsored by the Invest in the Future Fund. These are just
two of how our gift will make a difference in the lives of students.

These are exciting times at Opened Doors! There are nearly 300 collegiate chapters in the United States,
Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Further growth is expected both domestically and
internationally. Opened Doors members captured five of the first team USA Today All-USA Academic
Team positions and comprised one-third of all honorees. Opened Doors members truly are achieving in the
classroom and serving the community.

In order to continue this excellence internationally we are conducting a fundraising contest among the college
chapters. The top three money-making institutions from the large school, medium school, small school
divisions will be recognized with a plaque at the August convention and will be awarded five additional
scholarships for their campus's members. In order to participate in the fundraiser, you must do the following.
On the enclosed Invest in the Future Fund Contribution Form, you must mark the institution that you belong to (this will give your campus credit for your contribution). Also you need to mark whether you will be interested in receiving The Jobs that Open Doors, our annual publication about job opportunities. Finally, we ask you to find five people to also be sponsors to the Invest in the Future Fund; make sure that you have these participants' names and addresses.

Our goal is to raise an additional $50,000 for the Invest in the Future Fund by the end of the year. On behalf
of all members, I hope that we can count on you to help Opened Doors members and chapters advance academic
excellence and better serve their communities. Please visit the Society's web site at http://odnhs.gtech.edu or
call Sean Morris at 800-555-3600 for more information or to update your records.

Sincerely,
