Gail Dickinson, Assistant Professor

Dr. Gail Dickinson is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Curriculum and Instruction. She received her undergraduate degree in education from Millersville State University in Pennsylvania, her master of library science (MLS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received her doctorate in educational administration (PhD) from the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on the program administration role of the school library media specialist, including measures to evaluate the effectiveness of the school library media program. She is interested in program evaluation at the building level, and also in school library and teacher preparation. Dr. Dickinson is a program reviewer and serves on the Board of Examiners for the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). She has also published extensively on National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification for school library media. She is active in the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) and currently serves as chair of the National School Library Media Program of the Year (NSLMPY) committee and member of the NCATE coordinating and bylaws committees. Previously she was assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
