This is an upper level graduate course that blends systems theory and application. The course explores the systems approach to the design, analysis, and transformation of complex systems. Systems analysis is developed within a larger framework drawing on Systems Science, Systems Engineering, Cybernetics, and applied Operational Research. Emphasis is placed on: (1) development of the fundamentals of systems science, (2) exploring multiple systems-based methodologies for analysis and design of complex systems and resolution of complex systems problems, (3) detailed examination and critique of systems analysis philosophy and selected methodologies, and (4) evaluation and quality assessment of system-based inquiries.
