Rhetoric

Purpose

During today's lesson the instructor will help you understand the concept of rhetoric–both the misconceptions about the term and the reality. You will also be given an opportunity to respond to the instructors' comments on your proposal.

Discussion I: It is Never JUST Rhetoric

What is rhetoric? Why is the composition course about applied rhetoric?

Activity I: Come on, Persuade me! Part 2

Each group will be given five minutes to present their case to the instructor.

Activity II: Taking the Next Step

The instructor will return your proposal assignments. Read over your paper and open an email addressed to the instrutor (kdepew@odu.edu). Use this time to respond to relevant comments that the instructor made on your paper, espeically in places in which the instructor is requesting more details about your plans. If the instructor has requested more information about your research methods, make sure that you provide these details.
