ACCT 460 - ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Prerequisite Courses ACCT 301 with a C or better, 302, 311, 421 and computer literacy course, or permission of the instructor.

Students must have a C- or better in ACCT 460 to graduate with a concentration in accounting. The theoretical and practical approaches to the analysis, design, and implementation of manual and/or computerized accounting systems. Emphasis is placed on the investigation and documentation of internal controls, accounting cycle attributes, and auditing techniques for computer-based systems. Individual projects include comprehensive documentation of an accounting application and two case studies using a current financial accounting software package. The group project involves development of an accounting system for a specific application and its presentation to the class. This class qualifies as a CAP practicum experience. Students will complete a comprehensive final examination on materials covered in ACCT 301, 302, 311, 421, and 460

ACCT 460 replaced ACCT 317. Students who need to take ACCT 317 again for grade forgiveness, please contact Dr. Henry at lhenry@odu.edu and give her your student identification number and the section of ACCT 460 you would like to attend.
PRIOR ODU CATALOGS
ODU requires that the department honor the co- and pre-requisites for ACCT 460 from previous catalogs and allow students to enroll in ACCT 460 with those requirements only. Students will experience an enrollment block in LEO stating they do not have the pre- or co-requisites for the course. Please contact Dr. Henry at lhenry@odu.edu and give her your student identification number and the CRN of the ACCT 460 course you would like to take. She will lift the block in LEO online for you and advise you by e-mail when you can add the course through LEO online (you will have to register for the course as she can only lift the block).
