Course Overview

This course is an exploration of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE). SoSE is “The design, deployment, operation, and transformation of metasystems that must function as an integrated complex system to produce desirable results. These metasystems are themselves comprised of multiple autonomous embedded complex systems that can be diverse in technology, context, operation, geography, and conceptual frame (Keating et. al, 2003). Emphasis is placed on design implications for SoSE, analysis of SoSE problem domains, and transformation of complex systems. Upon completion of the course students are expected to have the requisite skills to effectively engage in the management of the system of systems engineering environment.
