Poetics & Pedagogy

Purpose

Pedagogies for the teaching of literature and the teaching of creative writing are contested topics. While literature instructors are asked to justify the texts they choose for their courses, creative writing instructors wrestle with questions about whether creative works can be taught and if so, to what extent. In today's class we will discuss these issues and how some instructors have addressed them.
