ROUNDTABLES

On two occasions during the semester, the class will organize itself into a roundtable (see syllabus schedule). The purpose of this exercise is to encourage student participation, improve verbal communication skills, and to facilitate class discussions. Participation in this exercise meets partial fulfullment of the course requirements. In other words, failure to participate in this exercise will result in a reduction of five (5) points from your final point total and and a heavy sigh of disappointment from your classmates. 

If a student is absent from class on the day of the roundtable, with good cause and documentation, the instructor, at his discretion, will organize a make up assignment for those students.

Format:

The instructor will come prepared with discussion questions to start the roundtable. 

  • Participation:  It is expected that each student will participation in the roundtable. 
  • List of questions:  Each student is required to bring to class five (5) questions that can be used to stimulate class discussion.  Students must type the questions along with his/her name and turn it in at the end of the class period.  Hand written questions will not be accepted. Failure to submit questions or submission of hand written questions: 5 point deduction.

Evaluation:

  • 5 points for participation
  • 5 points for list of questions.

Points per Roundtable = 10 x 2 roundtables = 20 total points
