3 Semester Hours

ESSE 369, Early Childhood Practicum assists in preparing the professional educator for today’s classroom by providing varied opportunities to observe current classroom practices and environments. This course includes a 70-hour field experience. 20 of those hours will be completed at the ODU Child Development and Child Study Centers. The remaining 50 hours will be split between two different public school classroom settings. Students are also required to attend seminars as directed by the instructor. (Tentative schedule to be provided at first class meeting and updated as needed at www.odu.edu/~awakefie.)

Teachers as professionals must be skilled at practicing the art and science of their profession in the classroom. The purpose of this course is to provide pre-service teachers opportunities to observe current and varied classroom environments and practices.
