COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding for:
- the major theories of human development and learning; research in social, emotional, cognitive, language, motor, and perceptual development and learning in children, birth through age eight; and study of the child in the family context;
- theories and content of curriculum and instruction and alternative teaching models and ways of knowing;
- alternative perspectives regarding key trends and issues Early Childhood Education;
- early childhood curricula;
- child care and other early childhood education environments;
- program planning for children from diverse cultural and language backgrounds, as well as children of different age and developmental levels;
- the diversity of delivery systems through which programs are offered for young children and their families;
- foundations of Early Childhood Education.
